Purchase of an 18-seater Minibus for the transportation of cancer patients

The Adrián Hoteles Foundation has acquired an 18-seater minibus for the benefit of the Spanish Association Against Cancer to transport cancer patients in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In this way, people who live in the south of Tenerife and must travel to hospitals in the north to receive treatments or consult specialists will have this means of transport available.

With this new project we remain faithful to our objective of supporting other institutions for the development of social, educational and health projects.

Development project of the oncological physiotherapy unit

The Adrián Hoteles Foundation is also committed to support the Spanish Association Against Cancer, AECC in the Oncological Physiotherapy program - an innovative project. It means acquiring the necessary medical equipment to carry out clinical investigations, to obtain protocols to prevent, treat and solve all the consequences that the oncological process can leave in a person and likewise bring quality of life to the patient. The beneficiaries are both adults and children who develop symptoms related to the after-effects of the oncological process (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormone therapy).

Children with Cancer Pequeño Valiente is a non-profit regional association formed by parents from the Canary Islands with children affected by childhood cancer.

In 2006, a group of parents detected great deficiencies and needs within the oncohematology plant and joined forces to create Brave Little Children with Cancer.

In 2007, it was registered in the Canary Islands association register. During all these years, they have developed different projects and activities that help them maintain and maintain their main objective, without forgetting the commitment they acquire from the beginning with all those people who in one way or another help them to continue.

Renting a hosting appartment in Madrid near the Niño Jesús Hospital, in which to provide accommodation and support to affected families

With the support of the Adrián Hoteles Foundation, a flat has been acquired, with several rooms where several families can be accommodated at the same time, in the vicinity of the Niño Jesús Hospital in Madrid and where families have a place to sleep, bathe , rest and cook, but always with the necessary proximity to go immediately to the Hospital if need be.
The Foundation takes care of the rent, all the supplies and maintenance expenses after having equipped it appropriately for the families last year.

Refurbishment of the Pediatric Day Hospital of the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria (Tenerife)

The Adrián Hoteles Foundation has decided this year to support a great project presented by the association Niños con Cancer Pequeño Valiente. This project consists in the relocation and refurbishment of the pediatric day service of the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to a better ventilated area, with natural light and with more adequate conditions for the health and recovery of young children .

The Corazón y Vida Association of the Canary Islands is a non-profit association that brings together parents, relatives and friends of patients with congenital heart disease and other pathologies.

Renting two appartments, one in Madrid and another in Tenerife to provide accommodation and support to families living in both communities

The association Corazón y Vida helps families, who reside in the Canary Islands, from the moment they are informed that their family member suffers from a disease, which cannot be treated in their hospital of residence, and therefore, need to be transferred, in many cases, as a matter of urgency, to Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Madrid. Likewise, help is given to all families who request it even if they are not residents in the Canary Islands.

A high percentage of these families have to travel to a city they do not know. They are totally disoriented, they do not know where to stay, how to get to the hospitals... without forgetting the issue of their food, transportation, financial expenses that on many occasions it is very difficult for them to cover, since they come from a deficient economic situation in many of the countries. cases.

With this project and with the intention of helping them solve part of the problem, the Adrián Hoteles Foundation has made available to the Corazón y Vida association, two flats, one in Tenerife and one in Madrid, paying the rent, supplies and maintenance, as well as hiring a speech therapist, pedagogue and psychologist. In this way, families can stay and even prepare their food since they have all the equipment and facilities. They can live in harmony and without any need from the time they arrive until they leave. In addition, the association has a number of support staff that will be in continuous contact with those affected.

The psychologist is present in almost all the process through which the patient passes. From the wait, to the intervention, transplant, treatment and unfortunately some will not surpass the treatments. This is where the role of the psychologist becomes essential and unquestionable.

THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL OF NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA CANDELARIA is a public hospital center dependent on the Canary Islands Health Service, an autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, located in the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which responds to the specialized health needs of the population of the southern area of ​​the island, as well as citizens of Le Hierro and La Gomera in those specialties that do not exist in their health area. 3. The Hospital has presented a project to the Adrián Hoteles Foundation that consists of the purchase of a Portable Ultrasound Machine Kit CL c1 FOR VSCAN AIR, for its pediatric service. This ultrasound machine offers exceptional images to facilitate early detection of diseases, monitoring of the treatment helping to quickly decide next steps, saving patients time with more accurate referrals and minimizing the need for costly and invasive imaging procedures.

This project consists of the remodeling and change of location of the pediatric day service of the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to a better ventilated area, with natural light and with more suitable conditions for the health and recovery of the patients.
